Things to remember

  • Some complaints on a cellular shade is that, unlike blinds that can be tilted to let in some light, this shade can either be down or up and your choice of opacity is final. With this, you must explore its other features like using two fabrics, a sheer fabric above an opaque one to maintain your view at day and privacy at night.

  • Also, install it not too close to the window to make some air circulation. A cellular shade too close to the window may cause ice build-up during winter because it can really trap the cold that much.  Make sure to have it open sometimes to let the air inside to circulate.

  • If you would go cordless, make sure that you can reach it. It is not suited for tall windows as you can only raise them as far as you can reach them, so installing it in hard to reach windows may cause you too much effort of climbing.

  • Furthermore, be sure to take note that additional options like going cordless or top down bottom up is also an additional expense. There are companies that give these as freebies so you should really explore your options.

Cellular shades drawbacks could be avoided. They may not be perfect for all windows, but it can surely suit any space just with the proper measures and additional decorative balances and draperies.
